Supreme Being Group: Forum Only Last Active: 9 Jan 2011 Posts: 101, Visits: 576 233	All, As some of you have expressed and interest in my LPG conversion recently undertaken, I thought I would post some pictures. The job was carried out very professionally as you can see from the photos below. The system used is the Italian Zavoli one (there are some out there that say that Prins is better, however there are those that say McDonnalds is better than a portion of fish and Chips!!!! who I am I to argue? :D ) The total cost of my conversion was £2050 which was the cheapest by £500 or so ;) . Wains Classic Rebuilds carried the conversion ( http://www.wains-classic-rebuilds.co.uk/ Tel 01603 872851 / 07799472798 (this is by no means an advert for the company I just passing on info as general interest). This is the tank, which has occupied the spare wheel space. I will take my spare wheel on long trip (abroad etc) Filler point was positioned on rear bumper (but obs the right way up!) Change over switch in car. Note system is fully automatic. As you can see there is no real change to the overall look of the engine Here is a view with the cover off. As you will prob agree, very neat job. Note large amount of Australia still present!!!! Location of LPG ECU. LPG system is completely separate to Petrol system, this means the LPG ECU can be programmed to best fit your style of driving and the make model of vehicle. Have driven 250 Miles on gas thus far no issues. PLG seems the same to drive as petrol except is sooooooooo much cheaper! :w00t: :w00t: :D Will post update once I have completed a few more miles. Supreme Being Group: Forum Only Last Active: 9 Jan 2011 Posts: 101, Visits: 576 233	LPG is a waste product of the refining process, so shouldn't rise in cost too much current price is approx 39 pence a litre, so when you see garage prices of 60 pence then you know who is making the profit!! I would imagine that the Government would like more people to convert to LPG as it will mean fewer emissions and thus greater chance of reaching various world deals. :) And so speaks a recent convert!!! Current savings on my car doing 12000 miles a year are £1440, that's only calculated from figures on one tank! However if you mix LPG with diesel (using the diesel as the catalyst to start the explosion) then LPG can be used to ensure more of the diesel is burnt. This in turn will lead to greater fuel efficiency (expect to gain 5 -10% more Mpg with a diesel/lpg mix over just diesel). There are companies which will do this conversion, you will have to ask Wains Classic Rebuilds if they would do it. One point to note, LPG to diesel is like NITRO to petrol !!!!! It has the possibility to make you can run like S"£t of a shovel!! SO often the mixing of the two fuels is tempered with an ecu remap or reducing of LPG injection (only on when needed). Have ran LPG vehicles since the mid 80,s Current is a American 5.7 Dayvan Where are you getting LPG for under .40p per litre ??,, we have an account with countrywide,, not got a invoice to hand at present,, but more than .39p,, nearer .60 !! Be interested in the consumption when you have put a few miles on her,, The dayvan does about 17/18mpg on petrol, but as with all LPG conversions, only about 13/14 on gas, so only the equivalent of about 26 MPG ! Supreme Being Group: Forum Only Last Active: 9 Jan 2011 Posts: 101, Visits: 576 233	Asda in York currently 51p, was till middle of last week 49.9p Fuel consumption won't be as good petrol as LPG hasn't the same octaine rating. However, these days you need to work out your total bill and with petrol at 119p (at same Asda garage) it means more than half the price. Therefore should overcome octain difference. Fuel figures around town 16 Mpg, on petrol it was 20 Mpg.
