However, these days you need to work out your total bill and with petrol at 119p (at same Asda garage) it means more than half the price. Therefore should overcome octain difference. Fuel figures around town 16 Mpg, on petrol it was 20 Mpg. I must admit though I have gone out of my way with both fuels to drive as Conservatively as possible.

:)

RE: LPG conversion - Have you had yours done yet? I would imagine that the Government would like more people to convert to LPG as it will mean fewer emissions and thus greater chance of reaching various world deals. :)
And so speaks a recent convert!!!

Current savings on my car doing 12000 miles a year are £1440, that's only calculated from figures on one tank! Looking at a like for like equivalent of 36 Mpg.

:)[/quote]

Hi Jules
Interesting observations !!! Have ran LPG vehicles since the mid 80,s Current is a American 5.7 Dayvan
Where are you getting LPG for under .40p per litre ??,, we have an account with countrywide,, not got a invoice to hand at present,, but more than .39p,, nearer .60 !!
Be interested in the consumption when you have put a few miles on her,, The dayvan does about 17/18mpg on petrol, but as with all LPG conversions, only about 13/14 on gas, so only the equivalent of about 26 MPG !

RE: LPG conversion - Have you had yours done yet? I have! :)

Diesel works on compression and as such can not be replaced by LPG. However if you mix LPG with diesel (using the diesel as the catalyst to start the explosion) then LPG can be used to ensure more of the diesel is burnt. This in turn will lead to greater fuel efficiency (expect to gain 5 -10% more Mpg with a diesel/lpg mix over just diesel). There are companies which will do this conversion, you will have to ask Wains Classic Rebuilds if they would do it. One point to note, LPG to diesel is like NITRO to petrol !!!!! It has the possibility to make you can run like S"£t of a shovel!! SO often the mixing of the two fuels is tempered with an ecu remap or reducing of LPG injection (only on when needed).

Hope this helps

Jules

RE: LPG conversion - Have you had yours done yet? The job was carried out very professionally as you can see from the photos below. The system used is the Italian Zavoli one (there are some out there that say that Prins is better, however there are those that say McDonnalds is better than a portion of fish and Chips!!!! who I am I to argue? :D ) The total cost of my conversion was £2050 which was the cheapest by £500 or so ;) . Wains Classic Rebuilds carried the conversion ( http://www.wains-classic-rebuilds.co.uk/ Tel <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = SKYPE /><SKYPE:SPAN onmouseup="skype_tb_imgOnOff(this,1,'0',true,16,'');return skype_tb_stopEvents();" class=skype_tb_injection onmousedown="skype_tb_imgOnOff(this,2,'0',true,16,'');return skype_tb_stopEvents();" id=softomate_highlight_0 onmouseover="skype_tb_imgOnOff(this,1,'0',true,16,'');" title="Call this phone number in United Kingdom with Skype: +441603872851" onclick="doRunCMD('call','0',null,0);return skype_tb_stopEvents();" onmouseout="skype_tb_imgOnOff(this,0,'0',true,16,'');" durex="693" context="01603 872851" IamRTL="0"><SKYPE:SPAN onmouseup="doSkypeFlag(this,'0',1,1,16);return skype_tb_stopEvents();" class=skype_tb_imgA onmousedown="doSkypeFlag(this,'0',2,1,16);return skype_tb_stopEvents();" id=skype_tb_droppart_0 onmouseover="doSkypeFlag(this,'0',1,1,16);" title="Skype actions" style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(C:\Users\jules\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache\e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506\static\inactive_a.compat.flex.w16.gif)" onclick="skype_tb_SwitchDrop(this,'0','sms=0');return skype_tb_stopEvents();" onmouseout="doSkypeFlag(this,'0',0,1,16);"><SKYPE:SPAN class=skype_tb_imgFlag id=skype_tb_img_f0 style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(C:\Users\jules\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache\e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506\static\famfamfam/GB.gif)"></SKYPE:SPAN></SKYPE:SPAN><SKYPE:SPAN class=skype_tb_imgS id=skype_tb_img_s0 style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(C:\Users\jules\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache\e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506\static\inactive_s.compat.gif)"></SKYPE:SPAN><SKYPE:SPAN class=skype_tb_injectionIn id=skype_tb_text0 style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(C:\Users\jules\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache\e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506\static\inactive_m.compat.gif)"><SKYPE:SPAN class=skype_tb_innerText id=skype_tb_innerText0>01603 872851</SKYPE:SPAN></SKYPE:SPAN><SKYPE:SPAN class=skype_tb_imgR id=skype_tb_img_r0 style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(C:\Users\jules\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\__SkypeIEToolbar_Cache\e70d95847a8f5723cfca6b3fd9946506\static\inactive_r.compat.gif)"></SKYPE:SPAN></SKYPE:SPAN> / 07799472798 (this is by no means an advert for the company I just passing on info as general interest).

This is the tank, which has occupied the spare wheel space.
