The other day, I had the mud option on and was tackling a pretty pronounced uphill when suddenly the motor just turned off. Has this ever ocurred to anyone? Why does this occur?

It is the second time it ocurrs and coincidently, in the same hill. I guess it is because the car probably notcies it just wont make it up and turns off for safetly reasons....

any ideas???

I doubt the engine switches off because it won't make it as the car has no idea how far to go.

More likely a sensor issue, possibly engine oil level, as this has repeated on the same hill and could force the engine to shut down if it senses that level is dangerously low.
