Hi,

Had a great time at Driffield, not such a good time on the way home, though. Overheated and broke down about 5miles from the show, had to get AA to tow caravan while we found a garage with a jet wash to blast the mud from the radiator. We were fine after that apart from the squealing wheels and broken parking brake, don't think we'll do the off road course next time

Regards

Anne & Andy

Hi Anne + Andy,

Sorry to hear you had car trouble on the way home again. Probably best to avoid the off road course as you say.

Has the tyre stayed up.

its about time these guys running off raod courses at shows sorted out a quick jet wash on no plates/lights/brakes and radiators - I saw several others with the same issue.

The internal club always take a jet wash to do the basics.

Drivers responsiblity is what it comes down to. Going on an off road you should know to have water and a rag to clean them off

Thanks to George for stopping. The tyre held up, thanks to all who helped with that.

There is a jet wash at the end of the course, we were concerned about the screeching discs, we paid for a full wash, then we went down to the garage further on and jet washed again but paid little attention to the radiator, so it was our own fault really. I don't think a rag and some water would have touched the muck that was wedged in the radiator. It's off to the dealer to sort out the squealing parking brake next.

Regards

Anne & Andy

Having had good experience of Driffield ...as I normally race there once a year with the British Cross Country Championship... the place is always wet and has the properties of fine grinding paste.

Least I would do is change the diff oils, and grease the propshafts....and serious consider checking the wheel bearings / regreasing and giving the brake calipier pistons a good wash .

A garden sprayer....as in pump up type are a handy tool to have if your doing offroad courses in deep mud....you can normally wash out enough mud to get you home.

[I have used 'water bottles' and pierced the cap with a knife to use as a small jet washer in the past]
