Hello All

I went to order my mantec sump guard from mantec for my 52 reg freelander auto and they say they have two in stock, a G4 NAS spec one or a G4 UK/Europe spec one, The NAS spec one has a section cut out as the Americans thought that a full sump guard may cause overheating !!!

Anyway my question is does anyone have any pictures of both the UK spec and NAS spec sump guard.

I know there was a G4 sump guard on ebay about a month back and I wonder if this was in fact a NAS spec one.

Oh and the NAS spec sump guard is cheaper than the UK one but I am just waiting for them to get back to me to give me the price for each of them.

The best photo I can find in our archive shows the NAS version in the USA during stage 1 of the 2003 event.

This shows a rectangular cut away section directly below the sump.

I have found a couple of clearer photos of the sump guard on the Mantec site. Go to

pick on the Freelander photo then the 3 photos show the 2 variations of the sump guard.

Photo 1 and 2 show NAS spec

Photo 3 UK spec.

There appears to be also 2 versions of the exhaust guard also. One version had additional round holes in the guard at the outer ends.

But both had 5 vertical slots.

Both types being used on the 2003 event.

The Mantec site shows the version without the round holes being prototype fitted to a FL1.
