A problem showed up after I washed the 110, the alarm went off after 2 hours, it now goes off when its rains, I have been in contact with the dealer on the phone who says he cant disconnect it.

I thought this was a one off problem with it after the wash, as it didnt reoccur for a week even in heavy rain, but the problem showed up again in the last few days.

Its driving the neighbours mad, plus I can't lock the doors any more due to the fact the alarm may go off.

Any suggestions ?

Can't be the first defender that has this problem.

Glen

hi glen, sometimes my alarm goes off on the 110 when there is thunder in the air , and instead of using the keyfob i use the key itself and this seems to do the trick .  By the way have you got your towbar sorted out yet, saw the picture of your 110 the other day looks great .

If you use the key to lock the door it still arms the alarm without the inside sensors. It is advised that you still use the fob to unlock. If you find this stops the alarming incidents maybe there is a problem with this sensor.

When you washed your car did you pressure wash under the bonnet?? I am suprised that you have a problem but of course water could have been forced into many places.

Is it possible that one of the door/bonnet switches have a problem. I would have thought that was the cheapest bits to start looking at. Of course you might allready have done that.

I checked all the switches, and I turned the interior lights off as another quick fix, but it didnt help, but I have now not had the problem for a week (been away at the norwegian national).

I dont have the interior sensor so only five others to check and clean, I suspect the back door.

Can the dealer check in test book to see which sensor is giving the flase alarms ?

Hi your not alone with this, my defender (2003)is on it second alarm cpu and has just started to play up again , and guess wot it been raining heavy on each occasion and it started again tonight and you guessed it its raining heavy . interior lights don't go out and when they do they will come on when driving. If you lock her up with the key it unlock straight away as if a door is open ,and the alarm will sound at any time and if I use the fob the alarm sounds like if there is a door open ..... Dose any one know where the alarm cpu is located want to look into this deeper myself this time b4 i take her back and end up with a nice bill for a new alarm cpu

After a check, I found I found out that if you lock with the key the alarm didnt arm or go off. I lived with this work around until the dealer found some problems with leads near the switch for the back door, which they reinsulated (taped).

After this I havent had problems.
