There will be an application process started soon - the announcement was to be last Monday, but there are issues with permissions in the countries that are proposed for the 2008 Challenge, so it's been delayed a wee while. Once that is announced the G4 Challenge website will fire into action and you can apply through that. If it's anything like the challenge in 2006 (and 2003 for that matter) then the process will be something like this:- web/paper applications accepted (a form of around 20 pages with the chance to sell yourself in the outdoor/adventure/first-aid/general knowledge/fitness/driving/land-rover knowledge etc....)
- from these entries about 50 people will be picked to go to a weekend of National selections in each of the countries that are represented (this might be different in 2008 as there will apparently be 2 entries per nation - i.e. a man and a woman, whereas the 2006 event had only one of either sex)
- the previous challenges than picked the top of the national selections (2 in 2003 and 3 in 2006, with 2006 having top bloke, top woman and top either sex) As i said above, it will probably be different this time, maybe 2 top blokes and 2 top women?
- The top people from each nation then go to a central location (Eastnor castle for 2003 & 2006) to battle it out for a week to firstly build friendships between nations and also for the judges (central and national) to decide who will represent each country.
- Then those people go and have the time of their lives round the world representing their countries!
Basically read the rules when they become available on the website and make sure you sell yourself on the entry form - don't lie, just be positive!
Good luck!
Brian.
